This requires some strict laws on possesing acid, and some even tougher penalties for injuring someone with the corrosive liquid. Maybe Jeb's
10/20/life law could work in Jamaica in acid cases. 10 years in prison for throwing it at someone; 20 years if it catches and injuries the victim; and life in prison if the victim dies.

"One person on the scene, who appeared to know the woman who was burnt, suggested that she was attacked by a stalker. But police on the scene were unable to confirm that story."

That makes sense, the article suggested she was the first victim(she was the target), and just perhaps the driver and passenger were injured because of their proximity to the intended victim. The article stated the driver received minor burns, and the so-called third victim's injury wasn't even worth mentioning. More damage would have been done given the small room a car has, and two buckets....
What makes it unique is it was done by two males, other than that, it(the crime)pales in comparison to others.

No death penalty, we do not even know if it was a crime of passion, besides rather than kill them how about dousing them with acid?

hail sah...crime of passion is spontaneous this has all the hallmarks of premeditation and disregard for bystanders
