1. Mykal Rose
A timeless artiste whose appeal is phenomenal, Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru fame, dominated the year 2008 with the megahit Shootout which easily raced up local and international charts. This was a great boost for the music and what better person to provide this than Mykal Rose.
2. Terry Linen
The year 2008 had a few pleasant surprises, and the return of crooner Terry Linen to centrestage was one of the year's best. With songs penned by Fitz 'Favourite' Livermore, Terry Linen stamped his class on charts worldwide. The singles
No Time To Linger, Better
Man and Mood For Love,
all of which appear on
Reggae Jammin Volume I (Tads Records).
3. Don Leroy Smart
We all know that Don Smart is a one of a kind artiste and he took the lead this year with his single of the same name. This foundation artiste, who over the years has had several number one songs, made 2008 one of his best years yet.
4. Merciless
Whether Leonard was in prison or not, still remains a mystery. All we know for sure is that he resurfaced in the latter half of 2008, stirred up musical controversy, even while crafting hard-hitting lyrics against paedophiles. It's all about the Amber Alert.
