    10. No Time To Linger, Terry Linen
Smooth, melodious and easy are words that aptly describe singer Terry Linen's vocal stylings on No Time To Linger (from the album Hits After Hits). The artiste, born Kiplin Simpson has had a great 2008 following up the track with an accompanying video. Both track and video have done well locally and overseas.

    9. Pon De Edge, Busy Signal
The signals were quite clear in 2008 for Alliance star boy Busy, who not only released his sophomore album Loaded, but managed to churn out four big tracks off it (yes, that can be quite rear). But it's Pon De Edge that got the biggest 'forward' last year.

    8. Trailer Load A Money, Vybz Kartel
Ahead of the year's most anticipated - and subsequently underwhelming - clash at Sting, Vybz Kartel served up the cure-all for most of life's little ticklers. cash and lots of it.

    7. Winner, Konshens
Natural Bridge recording artiste Konshens rocked the streets of Jamaica with his straight-up hustler-hungry-for-greatness vibe and it definitely positioned the young deejay as a winner.

    6. Warrior Love, Etana
When Etana burst onto the scene in 2006, she quickly became culture music's new 'it' girl. it has been three years since and she has matured lots. An apt follow-up to Wrong Address and Roots in 2008, was the instant classic Warrior Love, a smooth and sultry ode to love. And it didn't hurt too that, for the accompanying video the empress ditched the pretty-boy-type male lead for an earthier dude in the form of Rootz Underground frontman
    Steve Newland.

    5. Wine Gyal, Beenie Man
The refrain, "tek the miggle and wine gyal' from the summer anthem Wine Gyal could be heard at any given party spot in 2008, further cementing that dancehall artiste Beenie Man is clearly King of the Dancehall. Need we say more?

    4. So Special, Mavado
No one can deny that Mavado had a great year, so much so that he's made this list twice. I'm so special, so special. are those memorable lines from last year's So Special on the Unfinished Business riddim that captured the imagination of the dancehall crowd.

    3. Gully Creeper, Elephant Man
It's the stand-out track from 'energy god' Elephant Man's 2008 release Let's Get Physical on P Diddy's Bad Boy Label. And it became even more prolific when World's Fastest Man Usain Bolt, used it as his victory dance after dashing to the finishing line at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

    2. On The Rock, Mavado
Dancehall's favourite 'gully god' sought inspiration from an old church chorus last year and it paid off. There was word that he would be collaborating with hip-hop mogul Jay-Z on the remix, but we're not too sure what exactly happened there.

    1. Just As I Am, LUST
Easily the year's biggest ballad, LUST's take on the Air Supply hit charmed its way into the hearts of Jamaican listeners. There was too Digicel Rising Star winner Cameal Davis' memorable performance of the song alongside the group, and that further helped to seal her win and fortify the track as one of 2008's best listens.
