  • Summonses to be served on dancehall artises

    Monday, 05 January 2009

Summonses are to be served this week on popular dancehall artistes David Brooks otherwise called Mavado and Adijah Palmer whose stage name is Vybz Kartel.

The artistes are accused of using indecent language at the Sting stage show two weeks ago.

A senior officer of the St. Catherine South Police Division told RJR News on Sunday night that the summonses have been prepared and will be served this week on the two entertainers.

They will be charged with breaches of the Town and Communities Act.

The police said the two were not held and charged following their performances in an effort to prevent unrest among supporters of the artistes.

Meanwhile, Mavado could find himself in additional trouble with the law over comments he allegedly made about the police during his performance at the entertainment show.

The police are still reviewing a section of the video footage from the show before making their next move.

Oh ... that line bout him shooting police? I wondered how none of the officers on stage didn't walk up tuh him at that time.

He couldn't be so dumb to incriminate himself onstage.

          • Don't let negative things break you, instead let it be your strength, your reason for growth. Life is for living and I won't spend my life feeling cheated and downtrodden.

Police have significant discretion in enforcing laws and just because it is on the books, that does not mean they should enforce it. Its like driving pass a cop doing 75 mph in a 55 mph zone, the cop has the discretion to issue a speeding ticket.
