Former Minister Dr. Omar Davies is defending the former Government's resistance to overtures from multilateral lending agencies to provide financial support to Jamaica.
The Bruce Golding administration has been boasting that its close ties with the IMF, IDB and the World Bank have paid off with Jamaica set to receive much needed liquidity support in early 2009.
But Dr. Davies said it was because of the previous administration's refusal to enter into a borrowing relationship with multi-laterals that has made it easier for the present Government to obtain financial support.
