Criminality to be eradicated in Spanish Town

Spanish Town
Head of the St Catherine North Police, Superintendent Assan Thompson, has said extortion, intimidation and other acts of criminality will be eradicated in Spanish Town. Thompson said areas such as the terminus are being manned on a 24-hour basis by the police, who will arrest and charge anyone who flouts the law.

Several business operators are coming under fire from the police for contributing to crime in sections of St. Catherine.

st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }Superintendent Assan Thompson, Head of the St. Catherine North Police Division has disclosed that based on investigations, the criminal underworld is being financed by some business operators.

Superintendent Thompson, who was speaking at the Keystone Civic Centre in the parish Friday morning, also fingered a construction company in the division as being involved in the criminality.

The meeting was organised by the Peace Management Initiative in the face of a growing crisis in the communities of Tredegar Park and Gravel Heights.

Members of the Klansman Gang, operating out of a section of Gravel Heights and the One Order Gang, operating from the lower end of Tredegar Park have been at war for weeks.

The gangs have allegedly threatened several residents, many of whom have moved out of the community.

The high school in the area has reported that less than half of its regular student population has been coming to school since the crisis began more than a week ago.

Suspects wanted for community violence

Meanwhile, the police have released the profiles of James Hinds and Donald Brown, who they say are both responsible for the ongoing violence in Gravel Heights and Tredegar Park.

Superintendent Thompson said both men are wanted for 15 murders and several cases of shooting with intent.

He also warned that anyone who harbours the men or any other criminals will be arrested.
