Prime Minister Bruce Golding says he will not allow environmentalists to dictate to him how to address environmental issues.
Mr. Golding stated that some suggestions from these lobbyists were like going back to the days of the Tainos.
According to the Prime Minister, he has no qualms about the preservation of the environment, but in these modern times, the country cannot go back to operating as in primitive times.
The Prime Minister emphasised that some environmental breaches which have occurred in the past were mere mis-understandings and having dialogue with the Government on a timely basis can prevent these occurrences.
Keeping flights coming to JA
Meanwhile, Mr. Golding praised the Spanish investment in Jamaica as part of what will help take the country through this difficult economic period.
He said society should pause and contemplate what Jamaica's situation would be today, if the Spanish entrepreneurs were not as active and aggressive as they are, in keeping flights coming to the island with tourists.
Mr. Golding was speaking at the Seawind Key Investments commemoration ceremony for the construction of two upscale resorts - The "Secrets St. James" and "Secrets Wild Orchid".
The resorts are being erected on the peninsula of the Montego Freeport in Montego Bay, St. James.
They consist of two-350 suite hotels representing a total investment of US$185-million, funding for which is being provided by the Spanish investors and the National Commercial Bank.
