The board of the Transport Authority has issued a vote of no confidence in the per-formance of its Managing Director Keith Goodison.
The Gleaner yesterday obtained a copy of a letter sent to Goodison advising him that he has been placed on a 29-day leave effective immediately.
It is understood that the managing director will be transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Works where he is expected to take up the position of transport coordinator.
Contract expired in 2009
Goodison originally had a three-year contract with the authority, which would have expired in December 2009.
When contacted yesterday, George Johnson, chairman of the Transport Authority board, declined to comment on the matter. "It's awkward timing, I am in no position to comment at this time," he said.
However, sources close to Goodison told The Gleaner yesterday that there have been several attempts in the last 14 months to remove the managing director from his post due to speculations of his political connections with the former administration.
Dr Alwin Hayles, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Works, yesterday confirmed that the managing director was being placed on leave due to a unanimous no-confidence vote.
