Finance Minister Audley Shaw has announced that Cabinet is on Monday expected to approve policy governing casino gambling in Jamaica.
He says in order to further stimulate the local tourism industry Cabinet will give the green light to the policy.
According to the Finance Minister, one major project is on hold pending the decision and approval by Parliament.
He made the disclosure this week during a teleconference with local and international investors.
In April, the Bruce Golding administration announced its intention to legalise casino gambling.
It said operators of casinos will be given Government approval based on due diligence including fit and proper tests as well as an evaluation of their track record.
