Prime Minister Bruce Golding may have convinced many people that government's acquisition of the Ferry lands was not a bailout of a political ally, but it is also clear that his administration bungled the transaction and has left several questions unanswered.
CLAUDE ROBINSON
Given the key players and the context of the transaction and given Mr Golding's own role in increasing public intolerance of corruption, the prime minister should have ensured that there was openness and transparency from the very beginning. This did not happen and the administration must shoulder the responsibility.
The basic facts of the transaction do not appear to be in dispute now. The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) spent $168.7 million to purchase six and a half acres of land in Ferry, St Catherine.
No, Peter! Look at the entire episode beginning with the removal of the last UDC board.
If Hyacinth wasn't involved, would the response be the same? That's the question!
Unuh still a struggle wid dis? Wasn't it reported that 2 other schools were being helped by the gov't? How yuh not complaining bout that? All now none of the experts on corruption are yet to explain what steps should have been taken. Currently listening to the B.C. with Wayne Chen and him have to be correcting the misinformed hosts.
Pity.

Interesting that the PM would say he welcomes an investigation by the Contractor-General in light of the Contractor-General's claim -(incidentally, a claim supported by Claude Robinson) - that he does not have such authority.
mmm???
