  • 40 men detained in St Catherine

    A joint police/ military team has detained forty men from the communities of Waterford and Thompson Pen in St Catherine.

    The raid carried out early Sunday led to the seizure a Drummond Ruger pistol with nine rounds.

    The police have also reported that they now have in custody a man believed to be responsible for a double murder that occurred along Omara Road,St Andrew recently.

    The operation was designed to apprehend suspects believed to be involved in the recent upsurge of abductions in Kingston, St Andrew and St Catherine.

    Meanwhile, sixteen men were taken into custody by the police between Friday and Saturday afternoon in the Corporate Area.

    The police report that the St Andrew Central police along with members of the joint military/police taskforce carried out operations in Half Way Tree and Cross Roads.

    Fifteen men were released after being interviewed.

    One man who is still in custody is wanted by the police for several crimes in Papine, St.Andrew.

    During the operation eleven other men were arrested for carrying offensive weapons.

    Five illegal taxis were seized while 26 operators were issued summons for breaching the conditions of their licence.
