Jamaica's oil import bill is expected to fall by nearly US$100 million annually as a result of the introduction of the E10 blended gasoline.
According to Group Managing Director of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ), Dr. Ruth Potopsingh, the projected savings of US$92 million should begin to manifest during the next fiscal year.
Dr. Potopsingh says the sale of E10 is expected to put a significant dent in the price of petrol to motorists and other users.
E10 was officially launched last weekend with a full roll out expected by next year.
Jamaica is expected to spend more than US$2 billion to import fuel this year.
