The ugly face of capitalism
During his lifetime, Pope John Paul II prophetically stated: "Unbridled capitalism is as dangerous as communism." It is such unbridled capitalism that is bringing the world to its financial knees. This is the ugly face of capitalism, unbridled because of the laissez-faire practice of governmental abstention from interference in the workings of the market permitted and promoted by the US Republican administration. The Pope also referred to: "The scandal of the affluent society of today's world in which the rich grow even richer, since wealth produces wealth, and the poor grow even poorer".
