Wisconsin election officials are expecting a record turnout - 75 to 80 percent - for today's elections. The previous record was 74 percent in 2004. Wisconsin has about 3.7 million registered voters.
Yesterday, the last day of early voting, the line of voters stretched around the block from the city municipal office building in downtown Milwaukee.
At 8 AM, one hour after the official opening of polling places, I drove past my polling place, a junior high school, and the line stretched out the door. I estimate 200 to 250 people were waiting in line. I decided to go shopping, then go home and grab a jacket.
Today's weather forecast calls for highs from 70 to 75 degrees, which could topple the record high temperature for today of 73 degrees.
