This week saw the Dow Jones continue to tumble, with some arguing that the US$700- billion bailout package has made very little impact. That may well be a bit premature and it will take some time to unfreeze the credit markets. Of particular interest is the idea that perhaps a further US$300 billion will have to be injected of which a great part will be used to buy commercial paper, thereby taking the grand total of the bailout to US$1 trillion.
