  • I just reviewed my sample ballot for Decision 08

This is in anticipation of my trip to the supervisor of elections office tomorrow to participate in early voting. I have seen long ballots before but never before have I seen a four page, double sided, double columned ballot. There are so many races, amendments, etc at all levels. I am so glad for the concepts of early voting and absentee ballots. If these things did not exist, even a 24 hour voting period on election day would never be adequate for all voters to cast their ballots. I am curious to hear how many others have similarly long ballots and feel the way I do.

By the way, I scoured the ballot but I could not find the Wallace/Palin duo anywhere. Maybe that is for 2012. If I laff....

      Yuh gwaan!

      Yup!
      ...nuff-nuff ting fi vote fa!
btw - A wonda iffen wi JA bredrin an sisten dem kno seh h-all Judge, Law Eenforcement boss dem affi vote fa? Ova yah suh even frontline legal officers a political ballot appointee.

Was a shock to me when I just arrived in the good old USA. For some reason I thought those appointments were done similar to the process used in JA. Thought such appointments as done now were left in the distant Wild West past...were now only done in communist countries and the like

Stop acting like that Karl. Much of the world still does it the very same way we do in Jamaica.

I actually prefer the American system. We should vote for our judges.

vote for judges....nah. then the office would become even more political than it is now and would be a popularity contest.

it is not the system so much, it is the people in place that si the main problem in JA.

i not voting on any issue which i have not educated myself on....which may be a kinda vote in itself....

I know. I thought about that for a minute, but some of our judges need something to tell them that if they mess up, they can be ditched.

Aaaah, Mosiah - Legal storing of 'points' that can be called when needed...'buying' of decisions!

Just imagine if "Kern" was guilty and he would have to stand before the PNP judge...who knows his re-appointment depends on his rulings being 'PNP slanted'?????...

Some judges are apponted and other are voted upon. Some of the appointed are voted upon to see whether they should be allowed to continue inoffice. Others are lifers.
