  • Toy guns for movie

A New York based Movie Director and a Montego Bay videographer were remanded on charges that they imported illegal guns and blank bullets into the country.

Sean Davis, 26, of New York and Kem Daley, of Montego Bay, St. James and Waterlane in Falmouth, Trelawny, were hoping for bail when they appeared in the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court on Thursday.
The men were charged last week by members of the Organised Crime Unit who carried out an investigation into the seizure of five prop or "starter guns" and one ‘Airsoft' rifle at the Central Sorting Office on October 9.
The cops also seized 350 blank bullets in the operation.
But lawyers for the men claimed the toy guns and blank bullets were imported to film a TV series in Montego Bay.

In court on Thursday, Mr. Daley's attorney argued that his client, who was employed to a new television station named Click TV in Montego Bay, was working on a TV series with Mr. Davis - the director.
The prop guns and blank bullets were imported to shoot an action series titled "Dash".

Investigators however reported that the ‘Airsoft' rifle can fire live bullets.
The two have been charged with importing prohibited goods; conspiracy to import firearms and importing firearms without a licence.
Mr. Davis and Mr. Daley were remanded until October 30.

Wow!!! This one kinda sticky. Cyaan blame the police, as they're doing their job, then again, what if those charged are telling the truth? What is the procedure in cases like this?

that is the question...i would think that they require authorisation not only to import but also to film those scenes involving the firearms especially if it is to take place outdoors or in a public place.

      hopefully there is a procedure.

people can get arrested for possession of a toy gun...
