I'd say more like 60, or 3 large battleground states: FL, MO and OH

Thats just one poll and one of the most optimistic ones for Obama. Others have him up by 1 or 2 points. The polls are all over the place.

From the primaries I tend to put more confidence in Rasmussen which has him up by 5-7 in recent days.

                  Excerpt:

Mr. McCain has only one hope: to drive home doubts about Mr. Obama based on his record, and share as much as he can about his own values and vision to reassure voters.
Even if he does, Mr. McCain's task won't be easy: Mr. Obama is using his considerable talents as a community organizer. Evidence from early voting in Florida, North Carolina, New Mexico and Nevada shows that Democrats are flocking to cast ballots. We don't know yet whether they're cannibalizing their Election Day turnout by getting reliable voters to cast ballots early, or creating an electoral tsunami by targeting people who wouldn't otherwise bother to turn out. If it's the former, Mr. McCain still has a (long) shot. If it's the latter, he and other Republican candidates are about to be dealt a punishing electoral blow.
Mr. Rove is a former senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush.

Zogby, Rasmussen, Mason-Dixon, and Survey USA have a republican lean as I'm sure your aware. if your talking about the AP poll with the race at 1, you do know 44% of their sample are evangelics?

mind you this is the same institution that put up that farce 6 points race poll.

You're right. If he does well the Republicans will have a hard time winning an election in the near future. Doing well will give him a 2nd term. ..and continuining on that path of "doing well" would mean parents' actions teaching/making kids inclined to vote Democrat. Most of us here have the lessons of the Michael Manley phenomenon and how it made Jamaica "PNP country". Obama nad the Democrats have a great opportunity to make the US "Democrats country".

AP and IBD/TIPP both have it at +1 Obama.

I agree its not that close, but it could possibly be 4-5 points. Or it could be 10-12. Who knows.
