  • Murder rate continues to skyrocket

As government and opposition members deliberate with human rights groups over the proposed new crime bills, the country's murder rate continues to skyrocket.

The latest crime data obtained by RJR News revealed that 1234 persons have been murdered across the island since January.

This compared to 1100 over the same period last year.

Like previous months, the month of September witnessed another spate of killings.

More than 130 persons have been murdered so far this month.

However, this is less than the 146 murders recorded last month. 125 murders were recorded in July.

The cops say Clarendon is of grave concern with the recent spate of double murders.

Other troubled police divisions are St Andrew South, St Catherine South, St Andrew Central and St James.

400 illegal guns have been seized by the police since the start of the year.

No sah! I think yuh jumping the gun on this one. Yes, there are some who are blaming them. In any case, I think they have it wrong, isn't the proposal before some Parlimentary Committee?
