It is probably true to say that the options of superlatives to describe the performance of Jamaica's male and female athletes in Beijing have been exhausted by journalists and citizens alike.
There is no event in the life of this nation which has given us the global focus and audience which their successes have afforded us, and, never before has there been such a popular outpouring of positive expressions, admiration and support for a group of Jamaicans over the space of a few days. And yet, unlike the funeral obituary which can be so exaggerated, distorted, or just sheer self-deception and lies, these accolades were all deserving and made us truly proud as Jamaicans.
