The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) has been barred from demolishing the building at 14 Caledonia Avenue.
The Corporation was on Saturday morning served with an injunction which bars it from tearing down the property which it had declared to be a risk to public safety.
The injunction, which was reportedly obtained by Abe Dabdoub, will remain in effect until Monday.
It was served hours after a team arrived at the property to begin demolition.
A section of the building was knocked down before the injunction was served.
Town Clerk Errol Greene is adamant that the KSAC will not abandon plans to demolish the two-storey structure.
