According to the latest police statistics 125 persons were murdered in July.
This compared to the 136 persons listed as being murdered the previous month.
It also compares to the 135 murders recorded in July last year.
The police say the motives for the majority of the murders in July have not yet been established.
However 13 are listed as being gang related, while 47 are listed under "other criminal act".
The gun was used in 97 of the killings.
The police say they have cleared up 13 of the murders.
