  • Company’s refuse to pay KSAC advertising fees

Kingston's Mayor Desmond McKenzie is hopping mad with several entertainment venues and promoters over their refusal to pay advertising fees.

Mr. Mckenzie told reporters Monday that the council is owed in excess of $50 million by the companies.
Armed with a long list of delinquent companies, some dating back to 1999, Mr. McKenzie said the council will be taking the fight to these companies to ensure compliance.

He listed some of the major offenders.
"Tropical Roofing and Windows, Pre-Mix Concrete, Crown Hotel and Institution, Jamaica Flour Mills, GML Glass Company, Alex Imports Auto Parts and Sales, Yummy Bakery, National Baking Company, Cooks and Grieves Company, Air Jamaica and this is a company since 1998 has ignored every single notice that the council has sent. Air Jamaica owes the KSAC in excess of $10 million and before the company is wound up we want that money," said Mr. MacKenzie.

He said with the exception of four businesses, all operators in Tropical Plaza are in breach as well as the Caribbean Broilers Group, all branches of Khemlani Mart and all branches of Rapid True Value.
He added that the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation's lawyers have been instructed to act immediately to ensure compliance.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)
