We just wasted precious time and money to convict this guy. I'm sure it cost more money to Arest him, keep him in jail, bring to court just for $700.

Here goes another avenue for Revenue..increase the stupid fines or don't prosecute


Guard caught with ganja in remand centre

A security guard stationed at the Horizon Remand Centre who was caught attempting to smuggle marijuana inside the facility, was sentenced when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Devon Thomas pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and trafficking marijuana into a penal institution before Resident Magistrate Glen Brown.

The court was told that security officials at the institution observed Thomas behaving in a manner that aroused their suspicions. He was searched and a bag containing a smaller transparent bag with matter resembling marijuana was found.

He reportedly told the guards that he had been asked to deliver the bag and did not check to see what its contents were.

He was ordered to pay $200 or serve seven days for possession, and $500 or 30 days for trafficking the contraband

de courts dem a joke... people who are representing the law in any fashion should pay a severe penalty for violating the law of the land...

how can him call himself a security guard and try fi bring weed inna de prison... him should be sent to spend at a minimum 2 years wid de prisoners along wid de fine, which should be much more significant, covering the cost of the court and more...
