Also take into consideration that we are VERY "tribal" if that is word. When people lighting bus afire and killing chairman, I don't know how you win them over.
My point is you don't win people over through recrimination.

It's the very fact that Jamaica is tribal which makes it imperative that leadership rises above that BS consistently... then you will win people over or at least not alienate them.

Portia had the power to deal with this social contract, but not the intelligence.

she messed up that golden opportunity in the worst way!

That moment of near unity when she was selected head of government may never return in our lifetime.... if ever.

The JLP regime needs to get past that urge for recriminations in a hurry..

The country requires a government focused on solutions and focused as well on bringing all sectors together in a national effort to improve social and economic conditions... that will require not alienating PNP supporters.

A critical majority of the population have to buy into the regime's policies for them to be effective... one can't get a critical majority of Jamaicans without significant PNP support.

It's far too early to say that this regime is better or worse than the previous one... but if one looks at the important indicators... crime rising, inflation rising etc.. it's definitely not promising at this point.
            You cannot be serious!

Have you never been exposed to the concepts of momentum and inertia?
The GOJ is made up of politicians and their first duty is to gain or keep power!

Your current advice would have been better given over the last 18 years. Really, it is clear why we are in this pickle.

I believe the first duty of our leaders should be to advance the interests of the country. If they don't do that well.... that's what elections are for.

To the extent that political leaders feel that their first duty is to acquire and keep power at all costs... they must be kept in line by other elements of the political system including the press.

Momentum and inertia are irrelevant to this discussion.
Jamaican leaders need to be solution oriented and bring the coutry together around the common good... period. If they can't do that... they should be changed pronto... ala Portia... and if Golding can't do that... he must be dispensed with as well asap.

Since you don't know what my advice was over the term of the prior PNP administrations... perhaps you should not draw any conclusions regarding that.

I did not draw any conclusions, so I dont see why you "concluded" that! LoL

U failed to engage my primary point. We had a Goj that took 18 years to bring us to this point and they were removed by the tiniest of margins. If you doint see the relevance of REALpolitick here, I cannot help you.

I also reject your dismissal of inertia. It is a universal concept that is VERY relevant here. We have a boken down structure and you want it to fly immediately. aint gonna happen.

I'm not expecting any short term miracles.... I'll settle for creative, viable and aggressive plans and the attempt at development of a social consensus around those plans within the first year of this administration.

I have yet to see any such initiatives that impress me... so I'm disappointed.
