    And in which country do we get the official report of an earthquake within minutes?

    The "appropriate agency" has in the past issued official reports. I am sure it will do so again in due course. What's the rush anyway?

      In the US, any report of an earthquake (or tremor) is immediately broadcasted...

      Some tremors are precursors to the 'real thing'. As you well know (since your are USA educated) ...there are generally after shock that follows the major event.

      It is important therefore that the "appropriate agency" get on the horn to inform people on levels of alertness.

      (but then, again, a Jamaica yuh deh...anything goes).
      The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough

          And thanks, but no thanks, my USA education did not teach me about aftershocks. My Jamaican education taught me that.

          And please, do not try to lecture Jamaicans about how to manage natural disasters. ODPEM is miles ahead of FEMA.
