  • Sandals Royal Montego Bay served with cease and desist order

Thursday, 10 July 2008 A legal battle is brewing between Sandals Royal Montego Bay and the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) over construction breaches at the hotel.

RJR News understands that the hotel had been issued with a warning letter to cease and desist construction on a section of the property.

It is further understood that the matter originally arose out of a refurbishing plan submitted to NEPA by the hotel which required the construction of an additional 18 rooms.

That plan was allegedly sent on to the Parish Council.

However, it has not yet been approved.

Reports are that the hotel has nonetheless gone ahead with the building plans and now faces sanctions by NEPA.

If the hotel fails to obey the warning letter, it will face being slapped with a stop order.

I wrote this post on July 1:

Come on now, sass. Not every striking thing will be an article against the RIU! Anyway, I have been looking for the article about the sewer problem occurring at a Sandals property recently, but with no success. I wonder if you'll be able to point me to that article.

Isn't it weird how those things that are closest to you sometimes get overlooked?!

Why isn't OBG locking down this hotel?!?

I heard they thought it was OK to build since the proposed building plan was not in spanish.
