Charlie Wapp’ charged for labourer’s murder

Wednesday, 09 July 2008 ‘Charlie Wapp' the man who was at the top of the police most wanted list has been charged with murder.

‘Charlie Wapp' whose real name is Dwayne Thomas was charged by detectives from the East Kingston Police on Tuesday.

He was wanted for several murders, shootings and arson, especially in the Rockfort Area of Kingston, as well as absconding bail.

Head of the East Kingston Police, Superintendent Assan Thompson told RJR News ‘Charlie Wapp' is booked to appear in court on Friday.

"He was charged for the April 25th murder of Roger Gardner, 20, otherwise called ‘Marlon' a labourer of a Rockfort. ‘Charlie Wapp' and another man went to ‘Marlon's' home where they shot and killed him," he said.

Superintendent Thompson said further charges are likely to be laid against "Charlie Wapp" as investigators are reviewing other murder cases in which he was allegedly involved.

He was captured two weeks ago along with three others in Cuban waters.
