    Murder accused held again
    published: Monday | July 7, 2008

The arrest of multiple-murder suspect Tesha Miller sparked a fiery protest on Burke Road in the crime hotbed of Spanish Town Saturday evening as residents demanded his release.

Miller was held for violation of his bail conditions.

He was charged in 2005 by the police for four counts of murder and three counts of shooting, for which he received bail. However, he absconded to the United States.

Miller was deported to Jamaica last year by the US authorities and served nine months for absconding bail. He has since been before the courts and was granted bail with specific conditions for the original charges.

He was, however, arrested by the police at a popular stage show in December 2007 after he was found to be violating conditions of his bail. Miller was ordered to pay a fine and was granted bail with similar conditions attached.

The St Catherine North police have warned persons supporting Miller to desist from setting up roadblocks and damaging public and private properties.

Well, people like this should experience the extended detention. No problem with that.

Uhmm isn't this an allegation? Isn't the fact that he can get bail and fight the charges a hopeful situation rather than a hopeless situation? Isn't that a proper justice system?

People don't criticize judges in Jamaica for granting bail, or the judge dem fraid fi get tuff? Not to emulate Fox News, but we need a campaign to highlight judges who fail to protect the public, and who grant bail to accused murderers.

Fighting the charges ... does that include killing witnesses and committing more crimes? The reality is too many of these suspects after getting bail give alot of problems. Some of them even end up getting killed. Better they are kept in "protective custody!"

If the courts can prove that they are committing more crimes upon being granted bail then fine, but they can't. They can't even prove the initial charges. Nuh unnuh seh dem mus corral the gunman dem and nuh shoot them cause maybe they are innocent?

Yes, I agree it is an allegation, but the judges must use them discretion and refuse bail to gang members who are accused of horrible crimes.

Bring them before the courts ... yuh have a problem with that? Why give them bail to go out and eliminate witnessess? Keep them behind bars. If they're found not guilty ... then so be it.

This particular individual jumped bail to the US!! he probably would still be there doing shyte had he not been deported; imagine him get let out on bail AGAIN, and then violates the terms...HIM fi get lock up.

I agree in principle on your first point; innocent til proven guilty.

You can't hold somebody for four years and nuh gi dem trial. The initial incident was from 2004. If they had enough evidence against him i am sure he would have had his day in court already.
