The Government is promising that the new E-10 gasoline which will be rolled out before the end of the year will cost less than the existing blends of petrol now available to motorists.
E-10 will have a 10% mix of ethanol to 90% regular gasoline.
Energy Minister Clive Mullings on Tuesday promised that the new ethanol blended fuel will be available at gas stations in several parishes.
The government has committed $300 million to the project which is part of efforts to reduce Jamaica's dependence on imported oil.
Speaking on RJR's current affairs discussion programme Beyond the Headlines on Wednesday, Mr. Mullings said while the price listing for E-10 has not been finalized, there will be a favourable price differential to motorists.
"You will recognize a difference, I just can't say how much it will be now because we're trying to finalize (things) in terms of supply then work through the pricing system.
But it would also mean a 10% saving on what we spend on revenue going out in terms of foreign exchange,"
