  • Trouble looms on the labour front at Air Jamaica

There is word of more problems looming on the labour front at Air Jamaica.

The airline's mechanics who on Wednesday declined to join other groups of workers in signing agreements for a 14% wage increase are said to be on the verge of taking industrial action.
Vice President of the National Workers Union, Granville Valentine, said the mechanics are demanding that the airline immediately correct anomalies in their pay scale.

And Air Jamaica flight attendants who also refused to accept the 14% wage adjustment are to meet Thursday evening in Kingston.
A statement from the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union says the attendants will gather at six at the Liguanea Club to decide their next move.

Why the gov't don't do the damn thing and start laying off people? I do hope they're able to divest this sore next year ... if not ... lock it down and sell off the assets.
