<P class=StoryText align=justify>SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine - Five members of a St Catherine family, who were arrested for aiding and abetting the rape of their 15-year-old family member and subsequently released on station bail, were re-arrested when they appeared in the Spanish Town Criminal Court yesterday.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Senior Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar Gayle demanded the re-arrest of the five immediately after hearing the allegations against the accused persons.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The five accused persons, all of Fletchers District, Kitson Town, St Catherine, include the girl's father Leslie Harrison, 45, a chauffeur; her mother Leanora Harrison, 54, a domestic helper; and her sister Nardia Harrison, 20, a cashier. They have been arrested and charged with aiding and abetting carnal abuse, a breach of the Child Care and Protection Act of 2004.<P class=StoryText align=justify>At the same time, two brothers, Conrad Angus, 35, a farmer, and Collin Angus, 21, a musician, have been charged with several counts of rape, three counts of carnal abuse, indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm to the 15-year-old girl.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Leslie Harrison and his wife Leanora were given station bail in the sum of $60,000, while daughter Nardia was released in the sum of $40,000.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The 15-year-old victim, who is nursing a two-year-old baby, alleged to be the child of one of the two accused brothers who allegedly raped her on separate occasions on the same day, was remanded at a place of safety to return to court next Tuesday.
The magistrate, on hearing the charges, said it was appalling that the parents of the girl did not take care of their 15-year-old girl child.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Detective Corporal K A Roach told the court that on September 12, the 15-year-old girl and her mother Leanora, made a report to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) (rape unit) at the Spanish Town Police Station that she was raped on August 29.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The allegations are that between March 2003, when the girl was 12 years old, she was sexually assaulted by the Angus brothers, became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl. She was allegedly sexually assaulted again on August 29 this year by the Angus brothers. According to police, the family had knowledge of both sexual assaults but did not report them.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Roach told the court that based on the report, he commenced investigations into cases of rape, carnal abuse, indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm to the schoolgirl and statements were collected.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Resulting from the investigations, the police told the court that on October 15, they carried out a raid in Kitson Town and arrested the five accused persons.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The magistrate on hearing the charges, withdrew the accused family's $60,000 bail bond and ordered they be re-arrested and remanded in custody to return to court on Tuesday, October, 24, when the case will again be mentioned.
