    Diplomacy 101 for Minister Shaw

    Friday, June 13, 2008

    Dear Editor,
Since Mr Audley Shaw has been appointed minister of finance, his speeches have been filled with undiplomatic rhetoric befitting a campaign trail. Is the minister of finance still in the campaign mood? Did he attend the orientation for new cabinet ministers, or did Mr Golding in his haste to govern the country skip that process? May I suggest he takes the class: Diplomacy 101.

His recent speech at the PSOJ's annual economic forum at the Bank of Jamaica in Kingston brought into focus his brass and unfettered penchant for hasty and less than thoughtful remarks.
The honourable minister must be mindful that as a finance minister the business and economic sectors in Jamaica and indeed the world listen and internalise every word that he speaks.
I agree with your editorial which suggested that Mr Shaw needs a PR person, I would even venture further to say that he also needs a speech writer. If he does not get both or either of the above, then the prime minister must vet and approve his speeches before he delivers them.

It shows that he is deceptive.
Will the FINSAC audit ever be completed?

It is not the way Shaw is saying things it is the things he is saying. Only a better liar could help.
