      Approximately $0.50 US a litre for premium unleaded. i.e. less than $2.00 / US gallon.

      The price is subsidised by the government to the tune of approx $$330M / year. There have been many ( galy? (see Galchester post)) calls to remove the subsidy and let the price rise to the market level.
