Smith in US seeking medical advice

    Wednesday, May 28, 2008

MINISTER of Mining and Telecommunications Derrick Smith left the island Sunday for the United States to seek further medical advice, a statement from the Ministry of Information, Culture Youth & Sports said.

Smith has been absent from official duties since last month following a "minor" surgical procedure.

"He is expected to return to Jamaica within ten days," the statement said.

Acting prime minister Dr Kenneth Baugh said "the Cabinet is looking forward to Mr Smith's return to office at the earliest possible time".

What is wrong with the man seeking medical advice overseas? Footballers in England routinely seek advice from medical specialists in the USA all the time.
