the fact is hillary has to WIN the democratic nomination. if after all of this the DNC can appoint whomever they like to be the candidate then the last 14 months has been a gigantic waste of time and money!

Is a little more complicated than that though.

The whole purpose of the superdelegates is to make a judgement call when no candidate has enough pledged delegates to win outright. Thats the only reason they came into play this year.

If for example some major revelation about Obama were to unfold between now and the convention that made him go down 20 points in the polls, the superdelegates would only be doing thier job if they decided to put Hillary over the top. Otherwise why have superdelegates in the first place?

But we are not at that point right now where that would be justified.
