  • Opposition wants gov’t to speak on failing crime plan

The Opposition People's National Party says it is disturbed that the Bruce Golding administration has remained silent on its National Crime Plan even as the spate of violence continues.

Spokesman on National Security Dr. Peter Phillips said Prime Minister Bruce Golding skirted the issue during his recent Budget Presentation and that this years allocation is a significant decrease in what was budgeted for last year.

Dr. Phillips said the situation has been compounded by the absence of the Minister of the National Security Derrick Smith.

Figures obtained by the RJR News Centre show that more than 60 persons have been killed across the country since last week Monday.

More than 30 killings took place since Friday.

And after being on sick leave for nearly a month Minister of National Security Derrick Smith could be back at work before the end of the week.

Since April 8, Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Dwight Nelson has been acting as National Security Minister.

Acting is bad enough ... this guy is PRETENDING to be Minister!
            Not a peep from him.
