Think of all the black youth who get up every day and see success only for those who pimp sll rock and ball. Imagine the inspiration to say yes you can rise. That is important to me. I dont see the cost more than telling a minister to sit dung read you bible and go preach.. Black people self hate too much and have a crab in barrel mentality...

I agree that there is a "feel good" aspect to having a black president and it would show yet again that it is possible to have great success in the US as a black person, but I don't think it will be more than a temporary emotion. For one, I would guarantee that within a year you would start hearing people complain about what has he done for black people.

Black peoples problems have to be solved in the communities and a president has only so much control over that. How many Jewish or Asian presidents has the US had?

I don't have a problem with an Obama presidency, I just don't think it would be as transforming as many of his supportors do.

Obama's camp may have been duped into embracing evryone claiming to be a supporter, many are looking for (the first)a reason to change their minds. He has to understand his true supporters are the ones that really believe he is the welcome change, someone that stands for something. It is a group that he can build and will keep the doubters/potential backsliders at bay.
It is like the foolish dog with the bone(real supporters) in mouth looking at his reflection in the water.
I do not think the US will elect a anyone from my race for President, but even so, Obama has to be true to himself.

Also, I agree Obama will likely not make a difference(apart from the symbolic gestures, and creating hope...)because if he is elected then the question of re-election is next.

but HOPE among black youth and families is an important thing. Every time I drive by the Royal Ontario Museum with the Crystal expanison funded by Michael Lee Chin I make I tell my son see that is done by a Jamaican. That has a profound effect. Too often we have them looking to the Lebron James but not real people. HOPE might be more important than you think.
