No, but it should help you to understand why she declared a bi-election...

There is still the Spirit of the Law.

      I think that is important.

What was the intention of the law makers ?

That an MP cannot have 2 Passports or Travel on a non-jamaican passport ?

      Hmmm..

Have you been appropriately educated on the fundamentals of the matter ?

You had some confusion as to 'reasons' and clearly some confusion on what was actually determined.

The level of discussion that is currently occuring is probably a bit much for you given your difficulty with the basics so you should probably exit stage left.

                Gamma,

Here is another point to ponder.

Ian Hayles is/was a naturalized US citizen that HAD to swear alligience. He took steps to repudiate it before nomination, but as you know Papaerwork was NOT approved until after elections. This means that he sat in Parliamant as a US sworn citizen, pending his renunciation.

Question, the US could have rejected his application to renounce, yes or no? If so, what then, we have a sitting member "properly" nominated and elected but who would still be a US citizen! No law court nedded, Hayles is the only sure sworn Yankee that we know of and he sat in parliament as such for a while.

Does that not break the letter and spirit of the law? If we are serious about this provision, should we not require that all nomination candidate show proof of their approved renunciation BEFORE Nomination day?

To me, when you start the courthouse bizniz, you open a can of worms that can strangle the entire s(hys)ystem!
