Figures obtained by the RJR News Centre show that more than 400 persons have been murdered since January.
This is five per cent more than the corresponding period last year.

On Wednesday morning, the records showed that five persons were killed across the island.
Among those killed was Leo Gayle, 34, a truck driver of Fontano Drive in the Kingston 13 area.
Mr. Gayle was killed along Antrim Road in Kingston 3.
The Elletson Road Police reported residents reported hearing explosions and shortly after three men were seen running from the back of a premises.
The police were called and Mr. Gayle's body was found with gunshot and stab wounds.
The figures further illustrate that 128 persons were murdered in March.
And gunmen struck in Drewsland, St Andrew Wednesday afternoon leaving five persons hospitalised with gunshot wounds.
It is reported that shortly after 2 o'clock, a group of men returning from a construction site were walking along Drews Avenue when they were attacked by men carrying M16 rifles and handguns.
The gunmen opened fire on the group injuring four of them.
A woman who lived in the area was also hit by a stray bullet.
The St. Andrew South Police are keeping a close watch on the community.
