    What about death before dishonour?

Jackass sey di worl' no level. Jackass sey dem ya nowadays bad man a wicked man, but dem a no bad man.

Jackass will never understand just how these supposed 'bad man' in Jamaica operate. For if they are really as bad as they say they are and operate, then they should not face trial. They should stand up and fight back when the police corner them and go down fighting.
Like Jimmy Cliff as 'Rhygin' in Harder They Come, you know.

It is like Portmore's Most Wanted oops, former Most Wanted, 'Crackers', who was captured by the police on Friday morning, as The STAR reported on Saturday. This is a man who is accused of over a dozen murders (including that of a senior citizen) and being involved in several shoot-outs with the police. So why, when it came down to the gritty, didn't he take it to them and go down in a blaze of glory?

If it is even a penknife. If it is even hand to rifle. Anything.

    Neither did Zekes
But he does not want to die, does he? Neither did Zekes, neither did Andem, neither did the oodles of gangsters who the police have taken in to face trial.

Hell, another member of the 'Road Man' gang, of which Crackers was a part, Christopher 'Chicken Back' Jarrett, gave himself up to the police one day after making the country's top-10 list during what was reported as "a massive manhunt by the Portmore CIB".

One day? Bad man mek front page an' surrender inna one day? What about death before dishonour, going down against superior numbers in battle that you know you can't win but still take it to them anyway, spliff in mouth, designer clothes on back, defiant snarl on face?

    Straight dishonour
The world is not level at all, because many a so-called bad man is only bad when the odds are stacked very heavily in their favour, when they have not only superior numbers and firepower but also the element of surprise on their side. But when police come for them and it is surrender or die they surrender. Straight dishonour, no death.

They are wicked man, not bad man. And deep down the wicked man is an outright coward.

So a wicked man builds up his reputation by the sheer savagery of his actions, killing a couple old people here, a baby there, taking a group of men by surprise with his group of men and killing a few one time to make the headlines. And he makes sure that as many people as possible know of what he has done, while making damned sure no witnesses will come forward.

A bad man, now, does not 'pop off' for frivolous things, just to prove that he is indeed a bad man. In fact, until the circumstances require action, no one would even know he is a bad man. He is just cool and you have to look closely to see the watchfulness around his eyes.

If Jamaica had more 'bad man' and fewer 'wicked man' the place would be so close to the paradise it is without the carnage that takes place daily. Jackass sey di worl' no level. Jackass sey de wicked man dem a Jamaica sof like some stale 'Crackas'.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Fool fool article, and the death before dishonour twist is why.
Your basic and most important need is to feed, the reason is solely survival. Now surrendering to police officers isn't breaking the sacred mantra amongst criminals, cooperating with the police by way of being a witness against your cronies is.
It is an ad hominem argument.
Of Course if we are to believe the writer, it would challenge all police claims of "shootout with gunmen", and I do not think this is an argument the writer would wittingly entertain.
