Jamaican charged for having cocaine Friday, March 28 2008
A JAMAICAN national was remanded into police custody for tracing yesterday by a San Fernando magistrate before whom he appeared charged with possession of cocaine.
Kevin McLeod appeared before Magistrate Melville Daniel in the Second Police Court and pleaded ‘‘not guilty’’ to having one gramme of cocaine.
Court prosecutor Sgt Wendell Fernando read the charge which alleges that last week Wednesday, McLeod was found with the drugs while standing on the roadside at Byron Street in La Romaine by PC Cliff Legendre. McLeod explained to Magistrate Daniel that some “fellas” dropped the drugs and ran off on seeing the police jeep.
He was however found guilty as charged and was ordered to reappear in court today to hear what his punishment would be.
