New Police unit formed

The newly formed Firearms and Use of Force Task Group in the Jamaica Constabulary Force comes into effect Monday.

Head of the Task Group Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Robinson said his first line of action was to assess what needed to be done.

"What I'll be looking at is where we are, what the current training consists of across the whole range of Use of Force from unarmed combat training to the use of handcuffs and batons. I need to make sure we have policies and training packages in place to actually deliver that properly, so that when officers do use (force), we have a measure by which we can ascertain whether that action was correct," said ACP Paul Robinson.

Last week Police Commissioner Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin announced several changes to the structure of the police force.

He also said that the M-16 gun would be replaced with a less powerful weapon for many policemen and women.

What all this means is - Clear guidelines will be laid down on when to decide...bud is bud!

What did I say about identifying bud and treating as bud?
1. Ban firearms...excepting for members of the security forces and some in the commercial security business. These latter must be in clearly identified uniforms whenever they bear arms.

2. Every civilian found on the streets with a firearm has made self bud!

Repeat DISARM!

No one should have guns...excepting members of the security forces and authorised private security persons who must be in clearly identifable garb!

Where this will lead us?

Eventually to a society where gun violence will be just about NIL!

Just about -
No kids at home accidentally shooting each other! ...or other persons!

No quarrel and or dissatisfaction between family members ending in gun violence!

No accidental shooting of anyone!

--- persons who are shot would be shot by duly licensed persons who would have had the training to do that shooting as necessary last resort!
