Emil George new FSC head
published: Tuesday | March 4, 2008
ATTORNEY-AT-LAW Emil George, QC, is the new chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC).
His appointment took effect yesterday after Cabinet gave the former senator of the mid-1980s the nod for the job.
In a brief interview yesterday, economist John Jackson said George was suited for the job and his appointment speaks for itself.
George was admitted to the Jamaican Bar in 1956 and was appointed queen's counsel in 1970.
Cabinet also approved the appointment of consultant and financial adviser Dennis Boothe as director of the FSC.
Earlier this year, Michael Hylton stepped down as chairman of the FSC after serving for a short period.
Other members of the FSC board include Celia Brown-Blake, Dr David Tennant, Shirley Williams, Dayle Blair and Nicole Lambert.
