Sunday morning PNP Chairman, Robert Pickersgill, declined to divulge any information on the issue, only saying that a statement will be made available to the media during the course of the day.

According to the Party Chairman, Cabinet members and party officials have been instructed by Party President and Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller to remain silent until the media gets the information.

But sources say some senior members are angry that a member had moved to carry out arrangements on behalf of the party without the knowledge of the PNP leadership.

Saturday night, senior party and government officials emerged from the second day of closed door talks tight-lipped about the fate of the prominent PNP member whose fate reportedly hangs in the balance.

Word emerged out of the party late Saturday that the member has been asked to resign because of his role in the controversy over a contribution by multi national firm Trafigura Beheer to the PNP.

But no confirmation was forthcoming from the senior party officials.

The party's General Secretary claimed that if a party official were booted, the matter would be conveyed to the media through a press statement.

Up to midnight, the senior members were locked in what had become a two day marathon emergency session.

Highly placed sources say the lengthy discussions centred around the multi-million dollar donations to the PNP by Dutch oil-trading company Trafigura Beheer which was brought to public attention by the Jamaica Labour Party.

The party’s hierarchy reportedly spent much time discussing the involvement of public functionaries named by the Opposition.</SPAN></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
