RJR News understands that a senior police officer is under investigation in connection with the disappearance of $17 million from the Financial Investigation Division (FID).
It is reported that the policeman was recently suspended from duties pending the outcome of the probe.
Our news centre was informed that the officer was questioned on Thursday night in the presence of his attorney.
The $17 million was removed from a safe at the FID late last year.
It was later revealed that the money was taken from convicted Matthews Lane area leader Donald "Zeeks" Phipps.
Investigators believe the stolen money was proceeds from the multi-million dollar extortion racket operating in downtown, Kingston.
Zeeks was convicted of double murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in May 2006.
