  • Kern Spencer could step down as MP

There is widespread speculation that Kern Spencer could on Thursday resign as Member of Parliament for the North East St Elizabeth constituency.

Since his arrest on Tuesday, there have been several calls for Mr. Spencer to step down.

RJR News Centre sources claim that Mr. Spencer may heed these calls, once he is out of jail.

Spokesperson for People's National Party Lisa Hanna told our news that she could not comment on the matter, referring us to the Party's General Secretary Peter Bunting.

Calls to his phones went unanswered.

In the meantime, the Party is yet to announce if it has made a decision on Mr. Spencer's position within the party.

Following a marathon meeting with senior officials of the Party on Wednesday evening, the party executive decided to continue deliberations on Thursday.

PNP Chairman Robert Pickersgill told the RJR News Centre on Wednesday that the leadership of the party met with Mr. Spencer's lawyer and were briefed on the details of his case.

However the party held off on making a decision due to the absence of all the executives at the meeting.
