Callers to Jamaica House Live, the radio programme hosted by Prime Minister Bruce Golding, will have an extra 30 minutes to express their views and rap with the Prime Minister.
The call-in programme has been extended from one hour to an hour and a half to run from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will be aired for the second time on Wednesday, February 27.
Speaking with JIS News, Information Minister, Olivia Grange said that, "the Prime Minister felt that the time to interact with his callers was limited. We have secured the extra time and look forward to being able to cover those issues of national importance that are so critical to our country's development."
Turning to the involvement of Jamaicans living overseas, Minister Grange explained that the kinks have been ironed out to facilitate calls from overseas. "In January, more than 700 callers tried to access the programme from overseas but because of technical difficulties, the connection was not made. We are partnering with People's Telecom Jamaica Limited, which has given a toll free line to facilitate calls from Jamaicans living in North America," Minister Grange explained. The toll free number is 1-888-532-1754.
Calls from Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States are also facilitated by Jamaica National Building Society.
Jamaica House Live with Prime Minister Bruce Golding is aired on 10 radio stations: RJR 94 FM, Nationwide Radio Digital AM, Love 101 FM, Hot 102, KLAS FM, Power 106 FM, Roots FM, Kool FM, Bess 100 FM and IRIE FM.
The programme is part of the Government's thrust to open the lines of communication and to hear suggestions, comments and general feedback from Jamaicans, both home and abroad. It provides the forum for Government to report on its stewardship in implementing policies and programmes to improve the lives of citizens.
