Almost 50 students at the Central High School in May Pen, Clarendon were unable to go to classes Tuesday as when they arrived at school, the gates were locked.
The students, mostly boys, said they are being penalised because of the style of the pants they wear.
The students, who were outside the gates of the school from as early as 7 a.m., said they were denied access to classes, because of the way they are dressed.
The students told a correspondent of the RJR News Centre that they were barred from entering the school compound by the security guard.
Our correspondent witnessed the security guard telling students not to talk to the media.
The guard took her disapproval even further as she threw a bunch of keys at a group of students.
The keys hit one girl who was speaking to a member of the news team.
Another student who spoke to the RJR News team said the boys had been locked out because the principal had said their tight fitting pants, popular among teen boys and known as 'spangies' are not proper attire for school.
But the students are adamant that they should not be denied an education because of the way they are dressed.
School Principal, Victor Harrison said the students were being denied entry to the school because they had breached the dress code.
He said they had been told months ago to bring their parents to school to discuss the matter.
However he said the wearing of 'spangies' was not the only issue, as some students who were locked out were late for school while others had been told to come with their parents regarding incidents of misconduct.
