Students who skip school taken into custody Friday, 22 February 2008 Approximately 40 students from several in Old Harbour St. Catherine were taken into police custody after they were found loitering in a during school hours.
Several others were found bathing in a canal.
The were held during an operation on Friday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of the Old Harbour area Dutress Foster -Gardner explained the purpose of the operation.
"We realise that a lot of students are not attending school and as a result, today was a day for them," she said.
The students were processed and released into the custody of their parents.
